This Russian-developed game really bring home the point about the world being unfair/brutal for beginners.Д«ut once you get the mechanics and get to a high level of wealth/ship/rank, the games get easier and the mental reward is very fun. Don't expect the same hand-holding, fan servicing games with long tutorial that you get from American companies. Pirate ships will be on you 24/7 when you're weak and you will regularly face a game-over screen for the first 20-50 hours of playtime since anything/any wrong move can kill you in the Caribbean haha (and there is no warning that you made the wrong move). The game is hellish for new players and in the early stages of the game, kinda like in the real world I guess. Note though that you probably will have to start a new game 2 to 3 times even on beginner mode due to the brutal difficulty until you get a hang of the game. If you're a fan of the original pirate of the Caribbean game and the free play style, I think this is worth a buy. Just save constantly, which you would have to do anyway due to the game difficulty. The game is still buggy but it occurred in small enough quantity, not enough to turn me off. So I just semi-finished the game (I basically out-leveled the character too early on) beginner mode and will probably start a new game on higher difficulty after buying all the DLCs.
